Baea & Fullerton: sustainable luxury by the sea

Baea & Fullerton: sustainable luxury by the sea

When Hong Kong’s most anticipated new hotel wanted luxury organic bedding they turned, naturally, to Baea.

The Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel in Hong Kong is an oceanside retreat that overlooks beautiful Aberdeen Channel and the islands beyond, making it a romantic setting for that most perfect of couples: quality and sustainability. These things are close to our heart too, so we were thrilled when this prestigious new hotel chose Baea Retreat — our organic hospitality-orientated bedding collection — for all twelve of its sumptuously styled suites.

Sourcing organic cotton bedding from an emerging brand is not necessarily going to be the most thrifty option in a world of widely available mass-produced bedding, but as The Fullerton’s choice demonstrates, there really is a difference worth paying for when it comes to selecting the best for your guests. Our Baea Retreat collection has been designed to satisfy guests of the world's finer hotels, resorts and other sanctuaries by offering exceptional comfort and luxury combined with a hibernation-without-environmental-degradation ethos.

Partnering with Baea is also testimony to The Fullerton Hotels’ commitment to supporting local businesses and entrepreneurs. In the Fullerton Ocean Park suites, our bedding sits alongside other proudly Hong Kong-based brands such as Malabar Baby kids’ pyjamas and Fullerton Pilsner by Young Master.

Built from the ground up, the architects and designers of The Fullerton Ocean Park had the opportunity to approach every aspect of this project with a view to reducing its ecological footprint and promoting wellbeing. For example, this is the first hotel project in Hong Kong and mainland China to receive WELL pre-certification under the WELL Building Standard™ v2, recognising its intent to implement health and well-being strategies. The hotel is also intrinsically connected to neighbouring Ocean Park, home to a conservation foundation committed to the protection of Asian wildlife through partnerships, fundraising, research and education.

A focus on sustainability is evident in the details too. In the bathroom, insidious single-use plastic packaging has been shown the door, and replaced by planet-friendly refillable dispensers. The hotel grounds are also home to Farm by the Ocean, where aromatic herbs for its restaurants, bars and spa are grown. As a company with an obsessive interest in provenance, we love this wonderful example of farm-to-table food production.

When a company instigates positive environmental strategies like these, we at Baea recognise a kinship. It seems like good hospitality, like producing good homewares, is all about care — be that making considered choices, providing customers with the best, or reducing environmental impact in meaningful and innovative ways.
